ICL Growing Solutions is Spain’s only potash producer, with our mine located in the heart of Catalonia. We extract sylvinite and separate it into potash and salt, both essential raw materials used across agriculture and industry, in Spain and around the world.
The potash produced at our facility is high-quality potassium chloride (KCl), used directly as a fertilizer and as a raw material in the production of ICL NPK fertilizers. Since 2024, our potash has also been approved for use in organic farming systems in the EU, offering growers an effective source of potassium nutrition that meets strict sustainability standards while helping improve crop yield, quality, and resilience, providing essential nutrition for plants during key stages of growth.
The salt recovered during processing supports over 14,000 industrial applications, including water purification, road de-icing, and multiple manufacturing processes.
Potash from our Catalonia mine in SPAIN plays a vital role in global agriculture, horticulture, and turf management. Only about 25% is used within Spain; the remaining 75% is exported via ICL Iberia’s modern port terminal.
Inaugurated in 2020, the port terminal offers a distribution capacity of 4 million tons per year and is equipped with integrated rail connections to support efficient, low-emission transport. In addition, all discharge points at the port are fitted with high-capacity dust collection systems to minimize particulate emissions and environmental impact.

Our modern port terminal, opened in 2020, is well-equipped to serve international markets. Designed for maximum efficiency and sustainability, it includes storage for up to 120,000 tons of potash and 100,000 tons of salt. Modern rail infrastructure links the mine to the port, reducing carbon emissions and streamlining deliveries between the mine, our port, and customers.
