Located in Israel’s Negev desert, the Center for Fertilization and Plant Nutrition (CFPN) leads global research in sustainable agriculture. A collaboration between ICL and the Agricultural Research Organization, CFPN focuses on developing advanced fertilization technologies, educating future scientists, and sharing practical solutions worldwide. By combining science, innovation, and outreach, CFPN is shaping the future of plant nutrition and global food security.

In the arid Negev desert of southern Israel, agricultural innovation thrives. Through decades of research and collaboration, Israeli scientists have pioneered technologies like drip irrigation and fertigation, transforming limited water resources into thriving crop yields.

Building on this legacy, the Center for Fertilization and Plant Nutrition (CFPN) is now leading the next chapter in sustainable agriculture. Operating from the Agricultural Research Organization (ARO)’s research center in the Negev, CFPN is a joint initiative between ARO and ICL, dedicated to advancing global food security through cutting-edge research in fertilizers and plant nutrition.

A mission rooted in science and sustainability

The CFPN’s work is focused on empowering farmers with sustainable fertilization solutions while fostering innovation and knowledge-sharing across borders. The center collaborates with global research institutions and local farmers to develop practical, science-based tools for modern agriculture.

    Three pillars of impact

    • Advancing innovation in fertilization and plant nutrition
    • Educating and supporting the next generation of agricultural scientists
    • Transferring knowledge through expert training and outreach

    Research themes driving change

CFPN’s multidisciplinary research spans a wide range of topics, including:

    • Evaluation of new fertilizers and application methods
    • Optimization of fertilization processes for key crops
    • Development of nutrient diagnostic tools and recycling methods
    • Enhancing plant nutrient uptake efficiency
    • Innovations in canopy fertilization technologies
    • Soil and plant health, post-harvest strategies
    • Agricultural big data and precision farming
    • Knowledge-sharing for developing countries

With a strong foundation in Israeli agricultural excellence and a global vision for sustainable farming, CFPN is shaping the future of plant nutrition—one breakthrough at a time.
