ICL has launched NutroScan, a real-time plant nutritional diagnostic tool for Brazil’s 2025/26 season. NutroScan combines spectroscopy and AI to deliver instant, in-field insights into a crop’s nutritional status to help growers make faster, more accurate decisions and improve crop performance.
ICL has announced the launch of NutroScan, a real-time plant nutritional diagnostic tool set to transform digital agronomy and strengthen on-farm decision-making from the 2025/2026 crop season.
NutroScan combines advanced spectroscopy with artificial intelligence to deliver an instant analysis of plant nutritional status directly in the field. The tool represents a major leap forward in how growers identify nutritional imbalances and respond to early signs of crop stress.
This innovative approach, referred to as Plant Nutrology, introduces a new work philosophy based on three pillars: diagnosis, maintenance of plant health, and achieving maximum productive performance.
“It’s a tool to anticipate decisions, reduce losses, and increase productivity, taking agriculture to a new level of accuracy and sustainability,” says Alfredo Kober, CEO of ICL in South America.
A New Level of Speed and Accuracy in Plant Nutrition
NutroScan enables quicker decision-making by delivering in-field diagnostics in just a few minutes. This shifts plant nutrition management from a reactive approach, where action is taken only after plants are already under stress, to a more preventive strategy.
Using spectroscopy, the NutroScan device reads the optical “fingerprint” of macro and micronutrients in plant leaves. AI then compares these signatures with agronomic reference models to classify each nutrient as either deficient, adequate, or excessive.
This rapid workflow allows for earlier intervention, more precise nutritional management, and better protection of yield potential, helping growers reduce risk, optimize decisions, and enhance overall crop performance.

Born From ICL’s Planet Startup Hub
NutroScan is the latest innovation to emerge from the ICL Planet Startup Hub, a global initiative to support startups and accelerate technologies that address the most urgent challenges in agriculture and food security.
In Brazil, ICL collaborated with technology partners through the Agtech Innovation-led For Farmers program, which connects growers with promising agritech startups to validate new solutions under real field conditions. The tests carried out with soybean producers in São Paulo during the pilot phase confirmed the clear potential of NutroScan.
Integrated into Crop Advisor for Richer Insights
NutroScan is integrated with Crop Advisor, the digital platform from Agmatix/ICL. Data collected in the field is automatically uploaded into the system, which already covers more than 100,000 hectares and manages 600 active recommendation plans in Brazil. This integration strengthens long-term decision-making by expanding the database on crop responses, environmental conditions, and nutrient requirements.
Part of ICL’s Agronomic Service
NutroScan will be available as a specialized diagnostic service through ICL’s commercial and agronomy teams in Brazil. This service-based model delivers the immediate, accurate, field-ready nutritional recommendations that growers need to swiftly react to crops’ requirements, reducing risk to improve crop performance.
NutroScan marks a significant step in ICL’s open innovation program, offering growers a practical, science-backed solution designed for modern agriculture.
